the Birds"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My eldest son came home very excited about a school project that made a simple and quick bird feeder.\u00a0 The crafting table was set up and we decided to encourage and help the little chickadees specifically.\u00a0 These\u00a0adorable chubby birds\u00a0stay here all winter and must be hungry.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ladymacblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/IMG_20150208_152720.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" size-medium wp-image-1481 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ladymacblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/IMG_20150208_152720-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_20150208_152720\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" http:\/\/www.ladymacblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/IMG_20150208_152720-1024x768.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>Peanut butter, empty toilet paper rolls, some yarn or string\u00a0and a bucket full of wild bird feed (seeds) littered the table and pretty soon we had five little feeders to hang on the tree out front.\u00a0 The seeds held fast to the rolls once they had been smothered in peanut butter and we knew in a very short time the birds would notice and have a hearty feast right by our front door.<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ladymacblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/IMG_20150209_113805_1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" size-medium wp-image-1482 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ladymacblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/IMG_20150209_113805_1-268x300.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_20150209_113805_1\" width=\"268\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.ladymacblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/IMG_20150209_113805_1-268x300.jpg 268w, http:\/\/www.ladymacblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/02\/IMG_20150209_113805_1.jpg 866w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 268px) 100vw, 268px\" \/><\/a>Little things like this change a family, and this was a change for the better.\u00a0 The wild neighborhood birds are of course not really our pets, and it is best that way, but we can still feel an affectionate attachmeant to them as we continue to serve them in this way.\u00a0 It has encouraged an awareness about the little living creatures around us, a kind concern to keep up the fresh feeders so our little feathered friends can rely on a meal from us, and a calm pastime for the whole family to share.\u00a0 Thanks to Great Grandma Hicks we have a fabulous pair of binoculars and can sit in the reading room watching hungry guests arrive and partake.\u00a0 Mostly we have chickadees and the small woodpeckers but we all have hopes we will noticed other varieties of birds soon as well.<\/p>\n<p>Have you discovered any new and simple interests this winter that you can share with the family?\u00a0 I always like it when
