{"id":1572,"date":"2015-03-30T18:20:17","date_gmt":"2015-03-30T18:20:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ladymacblog.com\/?p=1572"},"modified":"2015-03-31T15:39:11","modified_gmt":"2015-03-31T15:39:11","slug":"rubber-boots-required","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.ladymacblog.com\/?p=1572","title":{"rendered":"Rubber Boots Required"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>&#8220;Let us know; let us press on to know the <span class=\"sc\">Lord<\/span>; <\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>his going out is sure as the dawn; he will come to us as the showers, as the spring rains that water the earth.\u201d <\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><em>~Hosea 6:3~<\/em><\/p>\n<p>My morning walk was\u00a0so warm and comfortable and calm.\u00a0\u00a0Rubber boots required and this fact made it clear that spring does indeed come to the prairies each year.\u00a0 No matter how long the winter seems it\u00a0ends in a damp season full of\u00a0mud and pot holes in the road but no bugs,\u00a0no blistering hot summer sun\u00a0and\u00a0very little yard work!\u00a0\u00a0I got teary eyes on the way home.\u00a0 I was thankful that if by chance I was spotted the prairie winds are always a good explination for watery eyes.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ladymacblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/IMG_20150330_091043_1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" size-medium wp-image-1577 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ladymacblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/IMG_20150330_091043_1-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_20150330_091043_1\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.ladymacblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/IMG_20150330_091043_1-225x300.jpg 225w, http:\/\/www.ladymacblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/IMG_20150330_091043_1-768x1024.jpg 768w, http:\/\/www.ladymacblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/IMG_20150330_091043_1.jpg 1944w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a>Got my self together early today so I could take my dog for a good walk and dropped the kids off at the school along the way.\u00a0 They don&#8217;t need me to escort them anymore but I wanted to see our towns tiny version of rush hour.\u00a0\u00a0The closest time\u00a0one could call busy here\u00a0is that short and sweet bit of rush at school drop off and pick up time.<\/p>\n<p>Life was\u00a0indeed\u00a0out and\u00a0about\u00a0at\u00a0my kids\u00a0lovely little community school.\u00a0 Buses lining up with farm kids and children from neighboring communities. A few parents parked to let their kids out.\u00a0 Other children swarming from all four directions walking sleepy but with enough pace to beat second bell.\u00a0 I turned to go and was happy to hear the school day begin with the bell ringing out as I walked on.<\/p>\n<p>I wanted to walk around town at a time when I might run into people.\u00a0 Wanted to enjoy the morning air, special light and sleepy sounds.\u00a0 There are so many birds back already.\u00a0 Specifically I think of the geese and ducks.\u00a0 With all the puddles and mini prairie lakes popping up,\u00a0because of spring melt, the geese and ducks are back and making themselves heard.<\/p>\n<p>Riddick, my smooth fox terrier, and I walked toward the sunrise.\u00a0 Along the way we exchanged greetings with a neighbor girl and she passed me the little umbrella we had won at a community drama event this last weekend.\u00a0 Pleased, I thanked her and congratulated her on her fine performance.\u00a0\u00a0 A few blocks later the camp ground invited us.\u00a0 Most of the snow is gone there so I easily walked over and climbed up the old play structure.\u00a0 Tied my dog up in the sunshine and took some pictures while I thought about how nice everything looked and<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ladymacblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/IMG_20150330_085757_1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\" size-medium wp-image-1574 alignright\" src=\"http:\/\/www.ladymacblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/IMG_20150330_085757_1-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_20150330_085757_1\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"http:\/\/www.ladymacblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/IMG_20150330_085757_1-225x300.jpg 225w, http:\/\/www.ladymacblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/IMG_20150330_085757_1-768x1024.jpg 768w, http:\/\/www.ladymacblog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/03\/IMG_20150330_085757_1.jpg 1944w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/><\/a> felt from my perch on the play structure.\u00a0 I dangled my legs for a while and considered writing poetry about spring.\u00a0 Instead I texted my sister in law bubbling over about how pleasant the departure of winter is even for those of us who like winter.<\/p>\n<p>Thoughts from my perch went something like this, <em>&#8220;Summer wears me out.\u00a0 The heat and work drains me.\u00a0 Fall cools me off and brings some endurance back into my bones.\u00a0 Winter wraps me up in quiet, calm, comfort.\u00a0 I wear my big oversized comfy clothing, eat too many hearty meals and embrace\u00a0my mellow hobbies, like reading and napping, more frequently.\u00a0 Even relaxation can become a burden and so it is that spring seems to lift off a heavy load and wake me up to a real feeling of being alive again&#8221;.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I am just so very thankful for every uniquely small town experience I had today already.\u00a0 Even though city living squeezed at my person I hope I was as observant even then, observant of the little stuff that was good.\u00a0 I look back and I am easily thankful for the seven years we\u00a0enjoyed all the benefits of city living and that makes me feel even more at ease in my bursting thankfulness that I now\u00a0get to live life small town style.<\/p>\n<p>Jumping down from the rough play structure I then\u00a0untied my dog.\u00a0 He stood up and stretched.
