Where did May go?\u00a0 Swallowed up by the craziness of sport… soccer to be exact.\u00a0 I just thank the Lord we set limits years ago.\u00a0 Fall the girls can pick AN activity and then spring is the boys turn.\u00a0 Still, with just the boys in soccer it has been a five to six nights a week gig.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

My boys really like soccer, they are putting a lot of heart into it, thus this mama is a little less frustrated by the crazy it adds to family life.\u00a0 Many an evening I am sitting in the grass with, coffee cup to go in hand, watching one of the boys give their all or seated, watching patiently,\u00a0in the van with a\u00a0mason jar filled with iced\u00a0coffee.\u00a0 \"IMG_20150512_181537_1\"I have mixed feelings about all of this because\u00a0for years I didn’t do the activity run around.\u00a0 We spent much of our time playing sports or enjoying the outdoors for free, as a family.\u00a0 I am not a big fan of any sports so I have to admit to taking naps or reading a good novel during some of the practices and even some of the games.\u00a0 BUT the boys are getting great exercise and fun with friends, they really really like it this year.\u00a0 \u00a0I can’t complain\u00a0much\u00a0as many practices are\u00a0just down the street at my little towns soccer field.\u00a0 Did I mention there are evenings where my eldest takes them so I can catch up on house work?\u00a0 Oh yes, I am not suffering like I could have in the city or if I had started this before my eldest could babysit.\"IMG_20150521_192445\"You see these posts about sacrificial mother’s on facebook, heavy on the sappy and not entirely accurate, at least not for this mama.<\/p>\n

A FAMILY OF 5 PROMPTLY ANNOUNCES<\/p>\n

SHE NEVER DID CARE FOR PIE!<\/p>\n

Pssst… cut them smaller people, I am not gonna lie to my kids, never seen a pie I didn’t like!<\/p>\n

I am not one of those mom’s who would hand the last piece of pie to her kid… mama baked this honey, roll up your sleeves and make another if you wanna get the last piece.\u00a0 Neither am I na\u00efve to the importance and necessity for sacrifice in parenting… I believe I wrote a post ages ago about not having more kids if you can’t handle giving up more of YOU.\u00a0 I might not\u00a0share all the treats I have in the house and I WILL easily say no to my kids about many things so this is a great opportunity to serve them despite myself… which of course it then because a thing of joy and fun vicariously, because they are having such a blast… these pieces of my heart are running around\u00a0lov’n it (it being soccer)!<\/p>\n

All that being said… I wrestle in my own mind as I get my first real taste of being a … a… soccer mom…\u00a0 Ah well, season is almost up \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
