{"id":53,"date":"2012-02-24T20:19:00","date_gmt":"2012-02-24T20:19:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.ladymacblog.com\/?p=53"},"modified":"2012-02-24T20:19:00","modified_gmt":"2012-02-24T20:19:00","slug":"do-not-call-my-children-tweens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.ladymacblog.com\/?p=53","title":{"rendered":"DO NOT Call My Children Tweens"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"clear: both; text-align: center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/-AsRKHVg-dXQ\/TwSXgsOecUI\/AAAAAAAANzI\/QaKGdbqyTrU\/s1600\/DSC01276b.JPG\" style=\"margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" border=\"0\" height=\"320\" src=\"http:\/\/2.bp.blogspot.com\/-AsRKHVg-dXQ\/TwSXgsOecUI\/AAAAAAAANzI\/QaKGdbqyTrU\/s320\/DSC01276b.JPG\" width=\"240\" \/><\/a><\/div>\n<p><span><i>tween <\/i>&#8211;<\/span> <u>A child<\/u> between middle childhood and adolescence, usually between 8 and 12 years old.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/p>\n<p><i>NOW my definition <\/i>&#8211;  A creation of consumer focused advertisers, seeking to expand their  teen girl spending high.\u00a0 Teen girls consume a lot, so why not treat  girls who are younger like teens sooner so they will spend like their  elders?!<\/p>\n<p>For definitions resembling mine look at these links:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.urbandictionary.com\/define.php?term=tween\">HERE<\/a><br \/>and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.businessweek.com\/innovate\/content\/oct2005\/id20051012_606473.htm\">HERE<\/a><\/p>\n<p><i>My beef<\/i> &#8211; These kids are still KIDS!\u00a0 Why rush them out of an already too short  childhood?\u00a0 Boys and girls alike, their innocence is INDEED threatened by the consumer mind  set that is at the core of the tween trend.\u00a0 Once made a commercial  commodity they are under threat from the most successful advertising  campaign style to date; and that is SEX.\u00a0 Most of the STUFF aimed at  tweens are indeed focused around sex; to look older, sexier or meant to  produce a type of lust in their young little hearts (ex: the lust craze  after young pop stars)<\/p>\n<p>This is my rant, agree or not,  but I am wearing my heart on my sleeve because I have seen this pinch  put on kids (especially girls) as early as in grade one!\u00a0 By the time  they reach grade four, if the parents aren&#8217;t letting them embrace this  trend then the parents are classed as strict and over the top.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/-PbK-syX-Mzw\/TwSXuC-WsaI\/AAAAAAAANzQ\/4MKP8cdFI6g\/s1600\/DSC01281b.JPG\" style=\"clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" border=\"0\" height=\"239\" src=\"http:\/\/3.bp.blogspot.com\/-PbK-syX-Mzw\/TwSXuC-WsaI\/AAAAAAAANzQ\/4MKP8cdFI6g\/s320\/DSC01281b.JPG\" width=\"320\" \/><\/a>Do I feel the pressure?\u00a0 Yes, but not in any way to give into this tween crap&#8230;.
