Crack Quotes

Little Woman was telling my oldest niece (she is almost three) about Baby Boy’s neck owe-y today and she pointed at it and said ‘He just has a crack now. I don’t though.’

My niece then said ‘I has a cwack.’ and pulled up her pant leg, showing a scratch on her knee.

Little Woman showed her arm off and exclaimed ‘Me too! I have that same crack on my elbow!’

YES You Can Be Too Young To Get Married!

Big Boy asked me if he could wear his tux to school. We call it a tux but it is really a silk Asian outfit. I said it was too cold for that and he was pretty disappointed so I figured he had a game of ‘kungfu‘ planned at lunch and let him wear the top with some warmer pants.

I later found out he and a little girl from his class (who also came dressed in her wedding outfit) got married at lunch break! Big Girl (my oldest) was there and was able to confirm it was a lovely wedding. I couldn’t believe my guy went through with it! Usually grade one boys are grossed out by girls and all their silly romantic games! Well I couldn’t believe it and couldn’t believe they didn’t think to invite their parents!

I asked him later (when we where alone) if he liked this girl and he smiled real big and whispered to me ‘Uh-hu Mommy, I like her.” Well I guess that answers it all… you gotta like someone to cooperate with a wedding!

A Refreshing Reminder

A double date with my guy’s brother and wife. She is a dear sister of mine and so it was like going out with great friends as well as close family. We watched a silly movie… tense enough to excuse my snuggling up to my guy. We enjoyed a late evening meal at a very fashionable lounge. We all returned home to our babies and thanked the grandparents who watched both families worth of kids! Couldn’t have done it without them!

Today, watched our wedding video, first time in a long time. Garnet and I gave one another mushy looks and chuckled at the younger, perhaps sillier, versions of ourselves. I practically roared with laughter at my oldest son’s horror when the big kiss was played out on DVD. I had to elbow him after he exclaimed ‘Awe! You guys KISSED??!!’ Apparently he hasn’t been to enough weddings.

The date was enjoyable and a refreshing break. The family movie was a good reminder. The weekend was a touch of love and romance… I hope to be mushier with my man as the week goes on and not stop to appreciate our gift of love on Valentines day alone…,but, for those of us who are well advanced in our marriages and well aged by our maturing love, that goes without saying!

Sisterly Effection

Poor Baby Boy, his sisters just found him irresistible tonight! They kept dressing him up when ever they could run him down.
Little Woman– “Mama he has long hair!”
If he could talk he would say “Oh bother…” just like long suffering Winny-the-Pooh.
Run Baby Boy! Run!

Bed Time Blessings!

I love bed time, when it is a relatively calm event, and not just because I am getting kid-less time for a while or because Garnet and I can be alone together, in addition to those reasons I often find it a cozy time jam packed with love and blessings!

Baby Boy picked up the Vaseline jar while Daddy was changing his diaper, put it to his ear and yelled ‘hewo!’

Little Woman was having her turn to pray and she told Daddy she wanted to pray for me… “I pway Mama gives me a glass of water for bed ana kissy… um…um I pway Mama gives me wots of kissys! AMEN!” Obviously I smothered her with kisses tonight!Later Daddy was rocking Baby Boy and singing a song (as he does each night for his boy). I love listening in to this special nightly event. Tonight Daddy started singing ‘Jesus Loves Me’ and Baby Boy joined in with his little sing-y song sounds that mostly come through his nose (so sweet). Big brother started to sing quietly too… quietly because he thinks I might hear him and think he isn’t a tough guy… so adorable! The girls are in the next room and they take up on the second verse and the whole time I sit and listen to this nightly event that is very ordinary and extraordinary all at once.TTFN

Unconditionally I Wove My Little Woman!

Not so long ago, when Baby Boy first arrived I remember having to remind Little Woman that I wanted to give her love’n. When ever she would get upset with life and act out I would say ‘Just let me know when you need some love!’ and she would reply ‘I need some wove Mama.’ and then we would hug… well I think it is paying off. She seems to have a simple yet complex understanding of our love…

L.W.–“You wove me when I cry’n, wight Mama?”
MOM–“Yes, when you are happy I love you and when you are sad I love you!”
L.W–“You wove me when I gumpy, wight Mama?”
MOM–“Yes, when you are silly I love you and when you are mad I love you!”
L.W.–” Yup you wove me when I in the tub too!”
MOM–“Ha ha ha, Yes I love you when you are clean and when you are messy!”
L.W.–“When you wove me Mama?”
MOM–“I love my Little Woman always!”
L.W.–“Yup.”

Our conversation while she was having her bath today.

Listen To Her

You have to give kids credit, often they boil down our overly complicated and emotional problems to the root of it all and can wrap it all up with a hug and a simple solution. I was feeling afraid today. I had a moment of weakness where I was doubting God’s provision. When I caught myself I was hit with shame and sat in a puddle of selfish and confused tears on the couch. My three year old came up to me, cautiously, and put her hand on my knee. “Mama, waz dah matwer? Why you so sad?” I felt bad for worrying her and said ” Mom is just worried about all the things we need and all she has to do…” She looked at me very thoughtfully, with furrowed eyebrows and replied “But God woves you Mama, right?” RIGHT my little woman! Her simple words snapped me out of my mood and I felt my faith restored. I hugged her and thanked her for loving me and then thanked my Lord in heaven for LOVE.

Wheels On The Bus

(My eldest two waiting at the bus stop with great anticipation!)

Big Boy
“The wheels on the bus are soooooo high Mom!”
“I watch the wheels on the bus while we drive to school Mom!”

Big Girl
“I dreamt about riding the bus again, last night Mama!”
“Riding the bus is awesome!”

So far riding the bus is their favorite part about being back to school. I can’t blame them! It is a big adventure in their lives and so new! Walking to and from the bus stop is a big and daily event in our house now that school is in full swing again. They have never been so easy to get out of bed for school. Busing them is a great solution for our family. The only draw back is the feeling I get in my stomach each morning as they pull away… nothing a little prayer and trust in my Jesus can’t fix!

Intense at SEVEN and going on Thirty!

(My little sales ladies!
After watching some kids with a lemonade stand I caught her trying to sell pine cones for a dollar each! To our neighbors… one of whom is the owner of the tree that is loosing all the pine cones!!)

I am wondering if most parents have felt like this where their oldest is concerned? I don’t know what I am getting myself into with her!! No one told me she would change SO MUCH and SO FAST in one summer. I thought I had it cased till high school at least but she has really been stretching her maturity wings lately. A million and one questions, ideas and concerns!

I have been going to bed a lot lately with a sigh and this thought on my mind ‘what am I supposed to do here?’ She surprises me so often lately and I stand there looking dumb, trying to say what I should and do what I should in each new situation.

MY GIRL -‘Mom lets make crafts out of the pine cones and sell them for money!’
ME -‘Uhhh
MY GIRL-‘Oh lets clean up the whole neighborhood so everone can have a break!’
ME -‘Well…’
MY GIRL -‘They can pay us if they like! Like a hundred bucks each huh!!?’

My perceptive girl is even more so lately and I am afraid to turn the tv on because she is gifted at pointing out how much inappropriate stuff is on even during the day! If something is at all touching it is a given that she will cry lately. My girl is a sponge and willing to take on the weight of the world! I can just see her mind kicking into intense gear right before my eyes and I just wanna get out of her way…

The other day we where watching ‘Sue Thomas FBI’ and Levi (the dog) got lost… She started wailing and I gave her a hug. She was shaking! So worked up about Sue and her dog that I had to tell her the end of the episode so she could relax (good thing I have watched every episode a million times).

I love her so… I hug her when she is weeping for the sixth time today about someone elses pain or upset about what is on tv…and I try to help her deal with all this… categorize and put it into its place, all sorted nicely in her sweet little brain…

‘Mom why do they only put the sad stuff on the news?’ SO PERCEPTIVE!
‘Mom why are people so mean?’ SO TRUE!
‘Mom we need to care about people even if don’t know them RIGHT?’ So beautiful!

I wanna do right by her and say right by her but I can’t get ahead of her lately!

Officially Summer!

OUR FIRST SPRINKLER AFTERNOON!
The kids and I agree it is officially summer when it is hot enough to want to go through the sprinkler. Saturday we broke out the sprinkler and got wet! Big Boy was the most willing to get in there. He was so wet he couldn’t stop shaking and had to lay down in the sun to warm up. Big Girl ran through a couple times but she was worried her nail polish would come off (an excuse to avoid the shock of the cold water). Little woman just screamed when ever her older siblings managed to get her near the sprinkles of water. At one point she put her hands in and that was enough for her. She ran to me screaming ‘Swokenin wet mama! Hands swokenin wet!’
(Little Woman spent as much time as possible coloring the drive way with her chalk and hiding from her big brother and sister. She didn’t like them trying to carry her into the sprinkler fire!)

Baby Boy sat with me. We both got great pleasure out of turning down the water so the big kids would get closer and then turning it up quick to catch them in its sudden burst of ice water.

‘It’s summer time, and the liven in easy…’
