Thanking God The Dishwasher Broke!

Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good. 10 Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another; 11 not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord; 12 rejoicing in hope; patient in tribulation; continuing instant in prayer;

~Romans 12: 9-12~ (Authorized KJV)

I recall a line from a quote, meant to be inspirational, that goes something like this, ‘be grateful for dirty dishes for they mean your family is feed’.   This little blurb has been coming to mind a lot more of late… as my dishwasher has been broken for months now.

Curtains, pom-poms and braiding!

D.I.Y. Mother and Daughter time!

After I managed to make myself try a new project on the sewing machine my daughter ended up with her much needed curtains; FINALLY 🙂  We didn’t leave it at that though, we have discovered many d.i.y. projects are actually affordable and practical so we decided to fancy these pretty purple curtains up a little.IMG_20150602_110917_2

Sewing, Gummy Worms and Saving Old School Wisdom cuz It is Still Wisdom!

We had a weekend of spring fun all planned out, soccer practice, work in the yard… and then a spring snow storm arrived bring a serious damper on our plans.  Snow storms in spring are much like a rainy day in summer, faces get pouty and moods can get antsy, thus this mom declared a crafting day!

4 Little Kids Who Keep Loosing Their Mittens

There is no fear in love: but perfect love casteth out fear, because fear hath punishment; and he that feareth is not made perfect in love.

~1 John 4:18 (ASV)~

There are all kinds of opportunities in life to practice stepping out even when nervous, even afraid.  Faith is stepping even if afraid, fear is going backwards… limiting and restricting yourself.

Joyeux Noël

There is a privacy about it which no other season gives you.

In spring, summer and fall people sort of have an open season on each other.

Only in the winter, in the country, can you have long, quiet stretches when you can savor belonging to yourself.

~Ruth Stout~

Our first winter here and so, of course, our first Christmas in the grand old house we call our new home.  A winter of abundant and glorious hoarfrost and many power outages.  Even Christmas morning was postponed till the power returned, after having been off most of the night, and so we started opening the presents much later in the day then children traditionally can handle.

Summer Happened Harvest Arrived

And summer past without much posting from me.  So unlike me!  Summer can be the most fun to blog about and yet I had a new perspective this year… the perspective of someone who HAS TO get her blood pressure in check so I let a lot of things just slide. Hopefully I will have time to post some warm fuzzy summer memory posts on here in the near future.

Dirt, Seeds, Hoping For Growth

All one really needs is some tilled dirt.  Today I found three relativity small patches in the yard that I could tame into a garden.  Grass and weeds had to be dug out and I gave the soil a turn with a garden claw.  All very rewarding work in spite of my complaining back.

Master List Success

We left home with thrifting in mind.  If my youngest and I could just get the unpleasant errands completed post haste we would have a couple uninterrupted hours at the Salvation Army Thrift store.  Our goal was finding at least two puzzles, our haul at the end of it all was a whole lot more then that!
