Radiant

I sought the Lord, and he answered me;
    he delivered me from all my fears.
Those who look to him are radiant;
    their faces are never covered with shame.

~Psalms 34 4&5~

Deliverance from our fears has become something totally different to me in my adult years.  As a child, I had the hope that it meant all to be feared would vanish…  now, I see it as not being removed from all my troubles but having the fear vanquished, in spite of my circumstance.  When we live in Christ he gives us his fearless Spirit, a Spirit of sound mind, love and his power; all we need to stand peacefully amidst what was previously our terrors.

If not in the storm then when?

Putting on the armor of God each day could be summed up in the idea of surrendering each day to live consciously within Christ.  Living through him is the most powerful armor one can wear to face this life.  Some of us, more then others, notice or are overwhelmed by the day to day storms.  The storms are for real, they can be crippling and sneaky and devastating, especially if your spiritual skin is too thin.

A Week Of Mornings

If you like table top books I highly recommend ‘A Year of Mornings’.  Inspired by this photography book’s subject and approach, AND to celebrate not being sick every morning any more, I collected a week of morning pictures for this post

Prancing

Some times I feel so much better then I have come to expect that I think about prancing through the day.  As long as I am still at home I can assume everyone will understand and not be weirded out by it… that thought leaves pretty much the moment I am locking the door and jumping into the van… even before I am out of the driveway.  Good mornings really do warrant something though, don’t they?  Today I went with it and got a ‘to do’ done that I had been easily putting off.  The prancing and dancing came later… once I had returned home 🙂

For Grandma Hicks

Mac Tac

Some say parenting and reading regularly can’t coexist.  I say, get your kids into reading and you can all escape together!  I also say ignore the kids  a little bit more, you can’t be accused of being a helicopter parent that way, AND you get to READ; win win!

32 and Counting

I have made a big change this year.  I am going to be willing and open to help, ready and available for healing, and always ready to fertilize hopefulness.  Brave, for me, has been redefined, no longer does it mean a strong stance and serious face, but a thankful stance and an honest face.

Antisocial and Profamily

Camping… That has been our goal this summer, to go camping with the children. With success in this area has come, also, antisocial tendencies.  We have hunkered down to fun in the sun as a little family unit. No kids running here and there to events of every kind this summer, just my man and I, our two girls, two boys and the dog. The kids said their favourite part of last summer was camping and we heard them!

The Island

Wild horses couldn’t tear me away.  This thought lingered in my heart as I drove away from my childhood home once again.  A summer visit of great significance, things were different this vacation.  I witnessed the knitting of the north to my eldest two’s souls; and realized with their connection made, I was even more bound to this land, in as much as is possible while on this temporal earth.
