Mac Tac

Some say parenting and reading regularly can’t coexist.  I say, get your kids into reading and you can all escape together!  I also say ignore the kids  a little bit more, you can’t be accused of being a helicopter parent that way, AND you get to READ; win win!

So the doctor says relax more, and the husband says relax more, and I keep trying to find ways to do that.  I am not a relaxed personality.  I screamed at my new blackberry playbook at least three times yesterday.  Technology is not my friend, stresses me out; and all those nasty screens encourage my migraine habit.  Give me a good book and I can literally become one with the couch; joyfully.  Book + tea in hand = see you tomorrow!

For the first summer in many summers I made sure to load up on second hand books and have a deliciously exciting variety on hand!  I can’t decide if reading spreads my days out in wonderful calmness or if it makes hours disappear in a flash… it is some mysterious combination, or coexistence, of the two!

Reading is so amazing no matter the location!  Reading on the beach has been a long lost treasure FOUND for me once again.  Reading on the front step in the mild cool morning is amazing and as I said before, my pink couch or cream chaise is always waiting for the book and I to return.

With the return of summer binge reading so too has the desire to collect and maintain my collection returned.  A roll of mactac practically jumped out at me, when last at the hardware store.  I have been happily mactacing my newest paperback finds all week.

The perfect description of how much I obviously enjoy mactacing was wrapped up in a cute question from my 9 year old son, “Why do you massage the books mom?”.

Happy reading!
