It’s Good

It was a treasure hunt, that is how I kept my four year old son interested as we rummaged through another thrift store.  In the first isle he found a little red stool just his size.  From then on I was followed by a very happy little man who worked hard to carry this stool all over the store.  When ever we stopped he was filled with joy at the access his stool gave him to the higher up shelves.  And oh how we hunted.  I found a few things for Christmas and he found a colouring book… but in the end the biggest treasure was his red wooden stool… which we of course took home.

As I sat to take the above photo of his stool I realised I had sat upon a collection of plastic dinosaurs.  I was able to ignore the discomfort in order to get the shot, but it occurred to me that this was a funny little moment, one to be remembered.  I enjoyed taking the whole moment in.  I was reminded that later in life many people would look back and value moments like that, moments that are such clear reminders of what it is to have small children… but I was able to enjoy the moment now.  The longer I do this mom thing the more I like it 🙂

While I have to get busy to push the walk (we got a lot of beautifully fluffy snow again), as well as need to get our weekly batch of 8 loaves of bread rising, and not to mention the parent teacher interviews coming up this afternoon; I enjoy it.  Perks involve long bouts on the couch with cups of tea and the time to gaze out the window, long walks with my dog and boy, basically a general freedom in planning my own agenda.

My little man’s red stool is a sweet reminder that we have it good, as in my family, we have one another!

Oh I love the stool, next to tables, I like stools, and a red one is so nice. Good for Quade. He has great taste. They make great plant stands, kid seats, and a million other uses and should never be left all alone in a store. Love you. Call when you can visit sometime. I may be able to stay with you and visit for a few days in Dec. Love you MOM. XXXXX/OOOOOO
